Our aspirations of the past 3 years, are slowly becoming a reality where private corporations, government authorities, local & international NGO’s are taking part in joining together for new developments in the marine industry in Maldives.
The 4th edition of Maldives Marine Expo was the ultimate platform for the stakeholders in the marine industry here in Maldives. The edition was held from 9th to 11th September at Dharubaaruge in Male’ City.
Maldives Marine Expo 2017 set the stage for a discussion on environmental issues faced by the marine industry through the theme for the year, “Mapping a Sustainable Future”. The expo had two pre-events, where a VIP launching event was held onboard Ritrella Cruise Hotel, our Exclusive Liveaboard Partner for this year’s Marine Expo. Following this, the Announcement of Sponsors and new partners event was held on a sandbank near the capital Male’ City.
The expo functioned as the host of all involved parties to present their concerns to the businesses involved in marine related fields. This year’s edition introduced new activities & facilities to the exhibitors, partners, invitees and the visitors.
Government authorities that work on the policy level and notable individuals working on minimizing environmental issues also appeared on the main stage and seminar halls to give keynote speeches and carry out panel discussions respectively. These discussions were one of the highlights of this year’s Maldives marine Expo as the visitors, stakeholders and government officials were able to interact and exchange new ideas of how to protect our delicate environment and minimize damage.
MME 2017 featured an Underwater Experience Zone, a first of its kind in Maldives. The dark lit room was designed to give visitors a realistic idea of scuba diving which placed the viewers in a simulated virtual world with the aid of projections and video footages of underwater scenes. This feature was very well received by the public and picked up by local media.
The last day of the expo introduced another new feature in the form of Marine Walks where a platform was set for the local fashion designers, clothing brands and retailers to showcase their range of clothing targeted for the Marine Industry, resort and beach wear included. Marine Walks was carried out on the Main Stage with a good response from visitors.
Main sponsor for the 4th Edition of Maldives Marine Expo was Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) & Gulf Craft. Where as the Co-sponsors were Allied Insurance & Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM).
The 5th edition of Maldives Marine Expo has been scheduled for August 2018.
